Kinzua Valley Trail Rules and Safety Tips

Trail Rules

  • Hiking, biking, jogging, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are welcome along the entire trail. Equestrian use is permitted only between the Trailhead in Westline and the Trailhead at US Route 219; also from US Route 219 to Guffey and up to Mt Jewett. PLEASE do not ride horses on the bike trail surface, stay to the side

  • Pedestrians have the right of way.

  • Stay on the trail and respect private property.

  • When riding horseback, wear a helmet & walk your horse on the edge.

  • Children under the age of 12 operating a bicycle or as passengers are required by PA law to wear a helmet.

  • Animals must be under owners control. Pet waste must be removed from the trail, including horses.

  • No motorized vehicles, except handicapped electric scooters and power chairs. No golf carts allowed.

  • No fires or camping, except in designated areas.

  • Pack-it-in, Pack-it-out. Please don't litter or leave behind belongings.

Trail Safety Tips

  • Use common sense, courtesy, and caution.

  • When bicycling, wear a helmet.

  • Keep to the right, pass on the left.

  • Give an audible signal when passing other trail users.

  • Check your bike, skis and gear for any issues before embarking.

  • Carry a map, always know where you are.

  • During hunting season use extra caution - check the Pennsylvania game commission's website for dates of hunting seasons, and always wear florescent orange when accessing the trail during these times of the year.
